Overview

Torquay in Devon, the heart of the English Riviera, is a popular, stylish resort with a strong Continental atmosphere. It is situated at the heart of 22 miles of unspoilt coastline and enjoys a mild climate. Our tour includes a ride on the South Devon Railway as well as a cruise on the River Exe, we also have a coastal tour.

Headland Hotel - 3 Star

The 3 star Headland Hotel is set majestically overlooking Meadfoot Beach and the sea. Originally built for the Romanoff’s, the Russian Royal family, the hotels facilities include an outdoor swimming pool, sauna and nightly entertainment. All of the bedrooms are en-suite and have tea and coffee making facilities. This hotel is served by a lift.



Your Itinerary:



Day 1

From your front door to the waiting Club Class coach for the cross country drive to the English Riviera, to arrive at our hotel with time to settle in before dinner.


Day 2

Our tour begins with a Devon coastal tour. Following the shore road we pass through Teignmouth and Dawlish and continue north to the Cathedral City of Exeter. We take a break here and have time to explore the city before we continue along the Exe estuary to the pleasant resort of Exmouth. There is time for lunch before we enjoy a cruise around the River Exe discovering the history, beauty and wildlife of the river.


Day 3

This morning we drive to Newton Abbot where its market day. Enjoy a browse around the stalls and a look at the town where you can obtain lunch. Leaving Newton Abbot we have a ride to Buckfastleigh. Here we join the South Devon Railway. Originally a Great Western Railway branch line, the line hugs the Dart estuary on the journey to Totnes. On arrival you can stretch your legs before the train returns to Buckfastleigh. In Buckfastleigh the railway offers and extensive museum, workshops, gifts and book shop and refreshment rooms. After time spent to explore we return back to the hotel.


Day 4

We head into the South Hams region of Devon. First we take a break in Kingsbridge, ‘capital’ of South Devon, with a chance to look around the pleasant town. Moving on we head for delightful Dartmouth with its many naval connections, including the Royal Navy College. We have lunchtime here and you can enjoy a lovely stroll along the busy harbour, or just sit and watch the boats. Late afternoon we return to the hotel with time to relax before dinner.


Day 5

We return to our home area after a relaxing break on the English Riviera.
