The 4 star BW Derwent Manor is an absolute gem set in 20 acres of beautifully kept land with the hotel interior being every bit as impressive as its setting. All the ensuite bedrooms are elegantly furnished and equipped with all the necessary amenities including a TV and tea/coffee making provisions, whilst other facilities include a super indoor swimming pool, an elegant restaurant, bar and lounge area and a lift serves all floors.



Your Itinerary:



Day 1

From your front door to the waiting Club Class coach for the journey north to our hotel, the BW Derwent Manor Hotel arriving with time to relax before this evening’s dinner.


Day 2

Our excursion begins with a drive south through the lovely countryside of the Pennines to Stanhope. Here we take a short break before heading west along Weardale to Alston with time for lunch before our journey aboard the South Tynedale Railway. Departing from Alston’s restored Victorian station, we enjoy a delightful ride along the beautiful South Tyne Valley. Upon disembarking we rejoin the coach and head across the moors to Hexham, with its historic Abbey before returning to our hotel with time to relax before dinner.


Day 3

Morpeth is our first destination today where its Market Day! We enjoy time to explore the town – browse the market stalls and grab a spot of lunch before we are on our way across the picturesque Northumbrian countryside to Bellingham and Kielder Water. Here we board a boat for a relaxing cruise around the lake. Our return to the hotel is via pretty Hadrian’s Wall country.


Day 4

This morning we travel to the ancient and historic city of Durham, acclaimed as a World Heritage Site and dominated by the magnificent Norman Cathedral and Castle, high above the River Wear. We have time to explore and obtain lunch before our afternoon visit to Barnard Castle (known as ‘Barny’ to the locals) and then on to Bowes Museum, just outside the town. This is one of County Durham’s biggest surprises. Housed in a majestic French style Chateau, the museum opened in 1892 and will amaze you with its superb collection, including the famous ‘Silver Swan’.


Day 5

After breakfast we make us of the motorways to arrive home late afternoon after an unforgettable break in Northumbria.
