Another of our popular, 5 day breaks with excursions to interest everyone. We explore North Devon with visits to interesting attractions including ‘Little Switzerland’, which combined with our excellent Brend hotel, makes for a very enjoyable break.

Your Accommodation:

The much acclaimed family run 3 star hotel is ideally situated in Barnstaple’s town centre and was formerly a coaching inn. The hotel offers relaxing lounges with waiter service throughout the day and is noted for its excellent selection of afternoon teas. All of the bedrooms are en-suite and have a TV, telephone, a hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. The hotel has a lift that serves all floors.

Your Itinerary:

From your front door to the waiting Club Class coach for the drive south to Devon. We arrive in Barnstaple and at our holiday hotel late afternoon. Tea/coffee and biscuits will be served whilst our luggage is taken to our rooms, then time to settle in before dinner

Our first stop this morning is the picturesque resort of Lynmouth where we have time to explore the narrow streets and maybe take the cliff railway to the twin village of Lynton. From here we make our way through scenic ‘Little Switzerland’, as the region is known, to the lovely village of Dunster with its famous castle and octagonal Yarn Market. We have time in the popular seaside resort of Minehead and our return takes us through Exford and the Exmoor National Park.

Today is market day. Visit the famous Pannier Market and explore the elegant Georgian town at leisure. This afternoon we visit the ancient seaport of Bideford, delightfully set on the banks of the River Torridge. After time for exploration, we return to the hotel with time before this evening’s dinner.

After breakfast we head to the Victorian seaside resort of Ilfracombe, known as the jewel in the North Devon Coast. Discover the quayside and harbour, whitewashed villas and coastal paths as well as its many shops and cafes.

We bid farewell to our hosts as we make our way home. We arrive late afternoon to be greeted by our awaiting taxis.
